What is a good spring?

Looking at getting rid of my Pi springs, I just think they are too harsh - is there anything out there that is good?
What is SPAX like? I'd consider G-MAX again too.

i got spax 60's on my gsi cant fault them and use with B8 shocks


not to harsh nice comfort but i also got 35 mm ebaich's (sp) to try next

I was looking for something 30-40mm drop wise. However, running on standard height shockers probably isn't helping at all.

give apex a go i got shocks n springs from lmf for £250 drop is 35mm

Cheers, but £250 is a touch much to "give it ago" I'm looking at a set of APEX springs for around £110 delivered Just hoping the shockers / dampers will have enough give in them to support them.

However, we'll see what I pick up I have a month or two to decide I think.

I've used GMAX before, and I would have them again too, but I don't agree with the last bit. For example, I currently have Pi's on and they are rather harsh..

anything ive ever bought i see no difference. G-MAX, PI, APEX...but thats all i've had and all -60mm so they were all the same to me. prob all harsh lol

Totally disagree don't like gmax at all far to harsh buckled 2 alloys using them eibachs far better spring in my opinion

It's usually a general rule that the cheaper end stuff is tested less by the manufaturer and is made to a set spring rating/weight so, ride comfort is usually the first thing to be compromised. But, it's not always the case. Apex is a good middle of the road spring (price vs quality) especially in the 30-40mm drop. 35mm or under you can usually always use standard shocks (preferably gas). Check out a company called motorsport world on web they offer sound straight forward advice and are pretty clued up on whats what.

I have a set of eibach on my volvo T5 with good quality gas shocks at 35mm, i certainly don't think they warranted being twice the price of such as, a set of apex or similar mid range spring. Only experience i had with Gmax was with my mk2 golf gti every minor bump felt like a pothole yet it still rolled as if it were on standard springs, that car is now on Apex at the same drop and it's totally different rides well and roll is reduced.

That's all opinion though, you've got to find what suits you . . . . . .

Eibachs are second to none, if you went from your gmax set up to an eibach set up, regardless of your driving type, I 100% guarantee you notice a big difference.

I used these http://www.aktivperformanceparts.co.uk/ ... 381801.htm on mine. Not bad for springs and shocks, quality wasn't bad either good powdercoating, really helpful as well as mine had to come from Germany (4x4). Ride was ok as well, handled really well.
