power steering rack play

Post by blackv6 »

right im getting some vibs from the steering sitting at 70 ish so me and a mate had a look and found nothing odd at the wheels but its seems ive got a bit of play in the rack at the centre (on the bulkhead) not at the top ball joints i can hold the bar that runs to the wheels and they move up and down so my question is this is it the rack or is there bushes behind the two bolts that holds the bars onto the rack

Movement up and down in the centre section of the rack is normal, ignore it. Had a customer once that insisted on a replacement for this very reason, the new one was exactly the same!

To add..... Balance wheels, swap front to rear, or balance on the car.
