Replacing copper brake lines

Post by Martay »

Hi,
im thinking of replacing the copper brake lines that run from the ABS thingy under the bonnet and run along the side of the car to the rears. They have been replaced by an amateur at some point, they aren't routed properly and look to have been done by Stevie Wonder! Its obviously going to be a ball-ache to do, but can it be done in a weekend? I may aswell do the fluid while im there.
Any suggestions? Any rough idea of price if i get a garage to do them?

Buy the pipe from vauxhall, its about 1 pound a meter and its the proper pipe that vauxhall originally used, the green plastic coated stuff so looks original.

Yeah, my mate phils just done all the lines on his lotus carlton and he used it. So much nicer than the copper stuff, especially for the bits you see under the bonnet.

Martin as long as you don't bust the nuts either end and can actually get the pipe OUT of the ABS unit in the first place then it's not that bad a job tbh. I always have problems bleeding the system, even with Tech1 as a caliper actuator, still haven't quite mastered it.
