Im about to do the V6 Caliper (using turbo ones hopefully) and Meriva 280mm disks on mine in coming weeks

Re: Upgrade brakes
Sorry for not mentioning this.I want better stopping power than i already have.
Would upgrading my brakes give me better stopping power?
What do i need to give my brakes better stopping power?

Re: Upgrade brakes
Good pads can make a huge difference even on standard disks.

Re: Upgrade brakes
Standard 2litre discs pads and calipers. Mintex, apec are fine. Fluid change and brake bleed will do it the world of good too.
Upgrading from standard td to 2litre brakes will take you from 236 to 256mm discs and it is noticable.

Re: Upgrade brakes
If you dont want to push your disk / caliper sizes up all you need to do is get yourself some drilled / grooved disks and some decent pads like some Ebc Greenstuff which give less brake dust and therefore don't coat your rims in dusty cack.
As Envoy said if you are running 236mm disks then the 256mm from any 2 litre model will give you decent amounts of braking, these are readily available too as loads of 2 litre Cavaliers / Calibras and Astras out there.
I am only upgrading mine as they look puny behind my rims and I do lots of motorway driving and want more stopping power as Cavaliers just don't stop quickly as and when needed.

Re: Upgrade brakes
I fitted Vectra B V6 288mm discs, pads and calipers to my Cav. At first the discs were redrilled for 4 stud before I changed the car over to 5 stud.
Makes a huge diffrence. Will need 16" wheels , but some styles of 15" wheels do fit as well.

Re: Upgrade brakes
Pedal travel is down to the servo and master cylinder.
Re: Upgrade brakes
what can i do to better this get the servo and master of a v6?????
Re: Upgrade brakes
ive been wondering about master cylinder changes for a while i have done a disc conversion on the back of my 1.8 gls hatch and have never had a brilliant pedal even though i have done a fluid change and full bleed so what master cylinder would improve my stopping power and pedal travel.
i have been looking at putting braided flexi hoses on all round but would like as good a pedal as possible without the expensive big brake upgrades. i have noticed the slight size increase with the front brakes between my cav and my mates v6 so i'm thinking of putting v6 brakes on the front of mine as an upgrade
