My V6 has 284 discs at the moment, if I want to upgrade to the 288, do I need to fit vectra 288 calipers (as well as the discs and pads) ?

yes. watch out with your hubs some are too large to fit over the 288m disk

Yeah, and I told you I would forget! Tbh I thought the vectra hubs/skimming was for the 308s. :)
