clunking from front end

Post by daveg »

picked up my car tonight and there is a clunking from the front end when hitting uneven surfaces,im thinking maybe a ball joint or something? the steering feels really heavy (no power steering) when turning at speed and I don't know if its just me used to my vans power steering or the noise is connected?feels vague just off centre then really weights up,just after some advice on where to start looking.cheers

Jack the front up on the chassis so the wheel hangs free, then check all your joints like track ends... Clunk sounds like could be ball joint...

Check lower arm securing bolt is intact too, this can bang if loose when cornering...
Free Parking is a bonus, leaving my Cav in a carbon dust filled carpark is not.....

Check the front brake callipers.

I had clonking from the front end like you describe, turned out to be the brake calliper bolts not tightened up enough.
