ARB Links

Just a quick one...

My 1994 Cav has the horrible push on ARB links that are a nightmare to fit, is it possible to fit the earlier bolt on versions for ease as one of mine is ok but counting the days until I break the other one..

You would have to change the whole antiroll bar to suit the other style drop links. Theres no way you could modify the original roll bar to make them fit.

No biggy was just an idea as the push on ones are a nightmare to fit tbh, myself and a mate spent ages putting last one on..

I think the subframe may have been changed because your should have the bolt on with ball joints..
I looked at modding these and think there is a way

I am aware it has had a front end impact many years before I bought it and found lots of issues like the n/s brake caliper was the wrong size for the spec of the vehicle so have to wonder..

Is the ARB a different size?? Atleast this way I could check as I have a set of bolt on ARB drop links sat in my parts boxes somewhere

You can fit the later bolt on anti roll bar.

You need the ARB and the brackets that hold it in place . you'll need to lower the subframe though to get access. At least, it looks like you will.

Hmmmm well next time its in the air I shall have a poke around, next job is the MOT this wednesday so fingers crossed as am aware of a problem or two but MOT doesnt actually expire til January 13th so a while to get jobs sorted...

May as well get them sorted if you're aware of them and they could cause a failure.

Anti roll bar is a pain to replace working on the floor, but no bother on a lift. The earlier links aren't bad if you use the right technique Mike. Cut the old one off. When fitting the new use washing up liquid, lots of it and nothing else! Push and twist, without stopping, because once you stop it's difficult to get it moving again. They actually go on quite easily if you get the motion right.

I learnt the hard way too, lol. Biggest no no is grease, which is what everybody thinks of first. The grease doesn't help, it just makes the rubber swell. Washing up liquid however is a brilliant lubricant.
