Stuck brake pipe ends in caliper
I was trying to remove the rear brake calipers from the car yesterday. Unfortunately, the brake pipe ends are stuck fast into the caliper itself. I've tried heat, WD40, elbow grease, mole grips, brake spanners... nothing works. In fact, one of the spanners snapped!
Any suggestions?

Decision made: I'm going to cut through the brake pipes with a hacksaw, remove the calipers as planned, get them tightened up in a vice, tap a socket over the nuts (before I round them off!), remove (hopefully!) and make new brake pipes.

Great minds think alike!lowrider dave wrote:I was just going to say, cut it off.
Or should that be 'fools never differ'?!

Dan, the last time I had a seized brake nipple that I rounded off, I bought a cheap set of small stilsons, once there clamped on they never slipped and I got the nipple loose, Ads

Did you get the end out? If not, tighten it slightly then back it out with the socket / rachet.

I tried all of the above (inc. stilsons!). Ended up cutting the brake lines with a hacksaw. I'll make new ones. A good excuse to replace the flexis with braided hoses while I'm at it!
