Changing brake pads and discs is a fairly universal job and the same methods apply for most cars.

Best thing to do is get yourself a Haynes manual for the Cavalier. They are only a few quid on eBay and are invaluable for all sorts of jobs.

Have a look on YouTube for some visual guides on how to replace brake discs and pads. As I said, the same methods apply for lots of cars so it doesn’t matter too much if you can’t find one specifically for a Vauxhall Cavalier.

Here is quite a thorough guide:

I’d recommend getting yourself a set of EBC Ultimax pads. They are excellent quality, made in Britain and quite cheep:

The rear pads are held in by small metal pins which need to be punched out of their position, then the pads just slide out. New ones in, replace the pin securely, job done. This is how I've seen it done.

Am I a light sleeper or a heavy sleeper? Well that depends on how much I've had to drink...
