Got some stuff to fix for inspection, need a little advice.

Post by VectraGoVroom »

Hello again. Took my Veccy to inspection a couple weeks ago, came back with two faults. The left lower ball joint needs replacing, and the left rear brake is only braking on the inside of the rotor, leaving the outside rusty. I opted to get an entire lower control arm after reading some posts about what a pain it is to remove those pins the ball joint is attached with, and I reckon the slide pins of the rear brake need some polishing and greasing to get full contact.
Now, as you may know this is my first car, and I haven't really done any wrenching on cars before. If any of you have any tips and tricks for these two jobs, it would be much appreciated.
For one, will I need any special tools or techniques to change the control arm, and does the brake caliper slide on its bolts or something else? Any advice at all will be useful, thanks.
Call them Cavs, but mine's a Veccy. <3
