Why is my car's butt so damn high?

I'm sure you've all seen my Vectra by now, and how her rear is a good two inches higher than the front. Any ideas as to why? I'll get a lowering kit for her soon enough, but I'd really like to get her down to original height before that.

I think most are like that.

This is my CD auto which I know is on it's original standard springs:

It will probably sit better with rear seat passengers, or the weekly shop in the boot.

As said, Cavs tend to sit high anyway, unless they are on the lower SRi or GSi (or euro equivalent) models.

Wow that does look high I take it it's only with the saloons? I wonder if it's just less weight at the back compared to the hatchback.
