How2: convert to 5 stud.
Big thanks to Greig SRI for the How2!
This how2 assumes the following points:
- You are using donor parts from a Vectra B
You plan to use Cavalier V6 rear discs / calipers
That you already have a 4 stud disc setup on the rear (if not, you will need a new handbrake cable)
Changing the rear to 5 stud.
Got the hubs off the car. I had to remove the bottom bolt for the shock to get in about one of the hub nuts.
On the bench I got the hubs off the back plates. Thay were well rusted together and took a lot of hitting with a big hammer.
I cleaned off all the rust on the bits and painted everything.
If painting (recomended) - leave to dry overnight
Once the paint has dried
Fit the back plate, disc shield and the 5 stud hub.
Then the Cav V6 disc and the caliper.
Setup the handbrake cable.
Now, the fronts are a bit more complicated if your using the Vectra front hubs (I suggest trying to locate V6 Calibra front legs that were produced after '96)
Heres the strut about to come off the car.
Remove the Cav hub out of the strut
Heres the diffrance in the Vectra hub and the Cav hub.
You'll need to have the 2mm machined off
Both 39mm here tho.
Most likely you will need new wheel bearings (72mm x 37mm x 39mm)
Struts fitted with the shortened hubs and new bearings
Struts fitted to the car.
