How2 - Remove your gearknob without cutting or breaking it.

Post by Gaz »

Over the years ive seen many people try and remove gearknobs in all sorts of ways, sometimes you can just twist them off with some force other times they seem to be stuck soild and need to be cut off, well they don't!

You will need
Picture 199.jpg
A kettle
Water
Jug/bowl/plantpot/big mug/you get the idea
A old towel/thick cloth

First boil a kettle of water shouldn't need more than half a kettle full for all you environmentalists

Place gearknob in the water so it completely covers the knob

Give it 3/4mins and remove with towel

Hold whole assembly in the towel (remember water is still very hot) and grip the white plastic end and twist the knob off, it will come off pretty easy, if not stick it in the water for a bit longer

Knob removed and still as good as new.
