humbucker's V6 CDX 'loon in Total Vauxhall

Post by humbucker »

My V6 CDX was featured in Total Vauxhall's 'Builds' section back in December 2010. The single-page article documented my time with the car up until that point, as well as outlining my future plans for the project. At no point did I suggest that I would sell the car to fellow Mk3 Cavalier Owners Club forum member, ABS, but that's exactly what I ended up doing after returning the car to a more-or-less factory appearance!

I remember buying that magazine. Think i still have it somewhere.

Do you know what happened to your V6 after you sold it?

Forum lurker, ABS, owns it. If my memory serves me correctly, the car is alive and well with him in North Wales.

Here's the sale ad, along with some pics of the car at the point that I advertised it as available for purchase. It was barely recognisable from the pics in the mag feature three-and-a-half years earlier!

I must admit, it was a rapid car, and I did enjoy my time with it (fond memories of travelling down to Exeter from Cambridgeshire in order to collect it from the previous owner), but I had three Turbos - not to mention a host of other automotive projects - by the time that Craig (ABS) bought it. The CDX was in very real danger of being neglected when work on the other motors started to take priority. It was the right time to sell.

Hi Craig. You'll need to sign up for a Photobucket (or similar) account. Attachments are no longer permitted on the forum due to the amount of server space and bandwidth that they were taking up. Here's a handy guide to posting images:

Hi Colin. They were BK Racing five-spokes. I can't remember the model name. I sold them to Michael (otherwise known as '5853moore') who put them on his Vectra B. You can see 'em in my original sale thread:

They're cute and very sexy
I think part of the appeal is that they look a bit like Vx units so they've got that 'belong on there' factor. What size were those ones?

Hey Craig! Thanks for sharing the pic! Those facelift MV6 alloys look good. Have you lost an X somewhere along the line tho?!

Great to see the car after all this time. Have you carried out any other modifications?

pesky car washers broke the X off the badge.

No visable mods, ive been concentrating on maintenance really, I want to keep it tip top. New brakes all round, new water pump and magnetic sump plug are the main things that spring to mind.

I have got a turbo smoked boot panel but I need the rear lights to go with it before that goes on. To be honest I dont use it anymore now Ive go a W12 A8 for a daily !!!!

I might be able to help out with a set of smoked rear lights if you're interested. Let me know.

And I don't wish to alarm you, but that vehicle sat behind your Cavalier doesn't look much like an Audi...
