Road trip

Looks like I'm off on a mad one at easter. Heading off in a van full of dog food and blankets through France and Italy and across to Greece, a day or two there and then back with a van full of rescued dogs destined for homes in the UK. Volunteered to help as the dogs have to have a person per number (5 I think) travelling with them. Going to be an experience, and probably a tough one at that, but will mean another transport of dogs gets a chance at life! :-)

Fair enough mate, I've always been more of a doggy person myself. And I don't mean that in a dodgy way...

Have fun dude.

Sounds great. Mrs Humbucker and I have one planned for the Irmscher MV6 if it's ready before summer end. We've had it planned since 2010 actually, but moving house and the subsequent financial commitment that a 200+ year old house has demanded of us put paid to that. But the car has been resurrected and will be featured monthly in Total Vauxhall magazine (next issue onwards iirc) so hopefully our 2010/11 satnav discs won't be too out of date by the time we leave lol

Have a great one, make sure you take plenty of pics and report back! Five dogs in the back of the van sounds like an experience. It also sounds like a night out in Newcastle, hehe.

Have a good trip, sounds like a worthy cause.
Got a roadtrip ourselves on saturday, down to blandford forum to pick up the bits for the RGV, then onto Frome as mrscav6 wants to go to an aromatherapy shop, then onto Glastonbury for a bit of sightseeing.
lfs there is time on the way home, call into weston super mare for a fish and chip supper.
sadly it wont be in the cav as mrs cant stand it :cry

If you're driving, then why isn't it your choice?

a)The Cav is not the most comfortable of cars on a long run.
b) It uses too much petrol
c) the mrs and her sister who will be with us, will do nothing but whinge about the Cav for the 10 hrs or so.
d)I've been married for 25 years and prefer on this occasion to take the path of least resistance. :D

Are you kidding me? I've been in a lot of modern cars and my V6 beats them all hands down for comfort... Even my old manual hatchback with the soft seats was just as nice....

The seats are comfy enough, its the ride and the noise that are the issue. As much as i hate to say it, the gti is much nicer to drive than the V6 for any distance.

TBH its c thats the main reason

Might well be kinda smelly too, fate accepted on that one. They have no future in Greece and if me putting myself out for a few days gives them a decent chance in life then it's got to be worthwhile.

I must be mad, I'm now also going to Ireland on Thursday to collect a Collie that the wife was desperate to save.

Three currently, plus one Thursday, subject to change if she is carrying pups. Strictly speaking the plan is to foster her for a while and rehome her.
Consider fostering Dan, it all helps.

Just think, this little girl would have been put to sleep by now without a little intervention.
