Post by Squig »

...my house!
We've just taken in a 8 week old doberman, due to an prem newborn, for housebreaking and basic training!

Poor little me...

Cheers Anita, he's called Severn and the main one is the house breaking and getting him used to the "cage" he sleeps in (due to the newborn at home)... he was sleep by 10:30 and slept through to about... 3am! Bugger!

Awwwww dobe puppies are sooooooooooooooo cute, all gangly legs, does he have his little squiggly tail???

i want a brown dobe as well but it's just not possible right now :| I'd probably end up getting one from Dobe rehoming though as there over run with unwanted dogs. Dobes have a terrible habit of whining for no apparent reason and alot would try the patience of a saint because of it. I no Breeze does it and it drives me potty sometimes

Awwwwwwwwww 3AM hes good then, Breeze used to wake up every few hours, she was a little sod.

get some piccies up pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee i wanna see him

struggling to get them off the phone... but yes he has a vicious little whip, not a tail, a whip!
What is the quickest way to house break them as I don't seem to be getting anywhere quick with it... 2 days with me and 2 weeks with my mate and he's not picking it up like our other dog (giant snauwser)

There little shits for it hun, Me and gaz gave up with the training pads they dont bloody care, piss here poo there all convieniently missing the pads. we ended up waiting till she peed on one then using it over the rest (they can sense the smell) just always remember to leave one down with piddle. Saying that at 6 months she suddenly stopped pissing and pooing everywhere and wanted to go out. Rule if he whines put him in the garden, he'll soon learn

Three cheers for Sev... he scratched at the front door last night then (with a little verbal persuasion of the "good boy" kind) proceeded to wander out and piddle on the path outside... all on his own!

HE'S CRACKED IT!!!

He's scratched at the door, gone out no messing, done the biz and come in, turned around scratched again and repeated
I'm so pleased if he keeps this up he can go home in a week or so... got to get him to the vets thou as the vaccine has left him quite ill and not eating so he's got another shot coming this evening to stimulate his appetite.

expensive animals puppies...

as soon as he's consistent and feeling better... so probably 1-2 weeks and he can triumphantly return home, having mastered pooing outside!

Then we're washing the carpets :D

Gaz: no mate he's sat sleeping and feeling sorry for himself...

Foxy: I promise a picture of him before too long but he's lost a fair bit of weight with Gastro Enteritis (???), went to the vets today for b12 and antibiotics hoping he'll perk up tomorrow...

Know what you mean mate, it was just to let those people that I'd been chatting to the bad news... it's a total s*** but the illness left him so weak he gave up and died. The really gutting thing is I was so close to calling work and asking for the day so I could look after him, but as Emma was coming home that afternoon with instructions to make sure he'd eaten something (I'd made him eat last night), I thought he'd be okay.
It's crap at moment, really missing the little chap.
