Electric Wing Mirror
Hi, Basically my electic wing mirror is a bit loose where it connects to the baseplate, as if its been hit. Before I go making it worse, I thought id ask incase someone knows if I can build a hybrid using a spare manual one. Or if there was a solution for a wobbly wing mirror. Could I swap the electric parts over to the manual one?
Re: Electric Wing Mirror
I recall that I have used the guts of a manual mirror to rebuild a cracked electric mirror.
First check to see if the three through-bolts are still secure that fasten the mirrror on from the insdie of the door frame.
If it isn't that, then it is likely that one of the alloy bars is snapped or cracked - like you see, if the mirror has been walloped by a passing person or car.
I am sure however that someone will say - check the spring steel clamps that grip these alloy bars, as these will allow excess movement if they become stretched open.

Re: Electric Wing Mirror
Thanks for the advice. I pulled it apart while still attached to get a look. I think its as you said the wee metal clips are a bit loose but also where the link bars attach to the base plate there is alot of play.
Here...

I think im going to use my manaul base plate and detach the bulk of the mirror leaving the link bars on the electric base plate.
Remove the link bars @ the left of the photo below...

Re: Electric Wing Mirror
Mirrors are identical bar the rods and electrics. plastics and hangers are fine.
