Hiya guys,
I need some help with a new (to me!) CDX. The heater is jammed in the full heat mode. The sliding lever moves, but the control cable behind will not move. Ive pulled the heater controls out and im thinking the flaps or whatever are siezed? Is this possible? I cannot move the control cables for the heat lever or righthand directional lever. If its siezed, do i need a new heater matrix?
Also, the air-con doesnt seem to work. The engine labors slightly when its turned on so im guessing the compressor is ok. Will it work once i can get the heating off? I know it may need regassing.
Thanks

Re: Jammed heating
Not sure about air-con related stuff but regarding the heater cable, did you pull the stereo out and look behind there? As you should see like a plastic bracket (yellow I believe on all models) which holds the cable on, if it came off that then the flap won't operate as it will have too much slack...

Re: Jammed heating
The other end of the heat control cable is down in the driver's footwell, up against the heater casing (sort of way back behind the ash-tray radio area).
If you unclip the cardboard under-dash liner, you should see the light blue plastic cable sheath.
And at the end is a white plastic cam.
Pushing the cam towards the engine will move the flap to the cool / cold setting.
Pulling it towards you (in towards the driver's seat) will move the flap to the warm position.
The cable and the cam should be quite free to move.
I seem to recall many moons ago that my slider jammed up - it turned out to be the thin black flexible strip that prevents light leaking through the slider slot..
On mine the end of the strip had become caught up against the profile of the slot at the side of the heater control panel.
I hope that makes sense.
