If your friend looks on the slam panel he/she will see a plate with lots of numbers and a couple of letters on it.beermonsterblack wrote:not my car so don't have the code some have said silk violet but the pic looks more purple to mehumbucker wrote:viewtopic.php?f=8&t=2192
Working from memory here (because I can't be bothered to go outside and look) they'll find a letter L roughly midway, take the L and the two numbers preceding it, that will be the colour of the car. Once they've got this, tracking down the name of the colour is as simple as ringing their local Vauxhall dealer with the NNL (number number letter) combination.

Re: opel vectra A colour
That must be a re-used number plate.
I see that reg as a prototype Opel Lotus Omega-A (Carlton) with a 3.6 litre engine.
Dating back to 1989.
One for Humbucker and his Autobahnstormers historians.

It is unlikely that you will find any useful information of the Vectra-A in the photo, as the number plate is an "Opel development" plate and was used on more than one car.

Re: opel vectra A colour
Looks like silk violet to me too, although I don't recall it being a Cavalier colour

Re: opel vectra A colour
I'm sure that Silk Violet (a popular choice on the Nova GSi and Mk2 Astra GTE) was a bit lighter than the pic in the OP's post, although perhaps lighting and the poor quality resolution pic are playing havoc with the original presentation?
Silk Violet is similar to Ford's Moonstone Blue. Never a Cavalier GSi colour option.

Re: opel vectra A colour
I'm guessing that the Vectra A 2000 in the OP's pic is Westiminster Blue with very bright sunshine and a peculiar lens effect (probably unintentional).

That's my take as wellhumbucker wrote:I'm guessing that the Vectra A 2000 in the OP's pic is Westminster Blue with very bright sunshine and a peculiar lens effect (probably unintentional).
biased largely by the fact that I knew Westminster Blue was a GSi colour and I can't think of many other blues, if any, that it came in
