Changing the gear lever/handbrake lever gaiters..advice rqd.

Post by retrogeezer »

I have done a search for this but other than people saying they are doing it, no advice.

I have changed the gear lever gaiter with no problems but having trouble with the thicker plastic of the handbrake one. My staple gun doesn't seem to want to work and the staples just keep bending.

Has anyone just glued one on?

Thanks in advance..

Thanks Gaz, gave up with the stapler and just fitted it with no glue or anything tucking bits in with a knife, seems to be holding fine and is a huge improvement.

Howdy

I found this thread from ages ago and thought I'd reignite it to see if anyone could provide advice on removing the gear lever. Had a look at haynes description, had a look in car, pulled of gear lever cover, scratched head. Can't see pin they are talking about to remove. Do I need to remove the whole centre console?

It's my 1.8 facelift model but would imagine most of them are the same to remove.

Cheers ladies!

I will be doing the gear stick swap in due course,
to stop me from punching the front of my radio, which is set lower down on the central dash panel.
