Fixing interior trim

The black plastic mouldings / extrusions that protect the exposed horizontal top of the sills directly below and facing the bottom of the front and back doors. When one or other of the attachment points fails, can these be re-secured by separate replacement brackets (part ref??) or do I have to source complete new extrusions / mouldings (part ref?)

If I understand you correctly, they are part of the sill cover moulding.

which means I take it that if I want to fix a loose cover moulding or whatever the term is, I have to source a complete new unit in each case? Someone secured what's there now with self tappers - which of course in time work loose in addition to looking rather naff.

Yes, you'll need new trims if the clips are snapped. Personally, the self tapper route is tacky (Think I said as much a year or two ago) but needs must I guess.
Later vehicles all screw into plastic clips in the sill, or into predrilled and painted holes.
I've often wondered if the MK3 inner sill covers would fit..

Only other way I could think of doing it is to make up new clips (method unknown) and secure them to the sill covers some how and hope you never have to disturb them again.

I feared as much. Though there was a drawing that Autovaux sent me that seemed to imply that the brackets were separate (+ not easy to get hold of replacement covers). Alternatively Michael Bonello reckoned he could fabricate some brackets which might in the end be the only way .
Autovaux is asking for my "trim code". If this isn't the VIN number is it the (chassis?) serial number?

I'm still looking for replacement sill mouldings! Bit of a lost cause.

If you find one, it shouldn't be that expensive.

When "Toad" installed our Meta alarm, they broke the passenger side trim.
I was shocked to find a new one was only £7.20 back in 1996.

I can well believe that. Even allowing for inflation £7.20 wouldn't break the bank. Just a matter of finding 'em somewhere ..

Presuming you mean the full length trims.
Front and Rear ( you can get individual halves).

Left = 90319991
Right = 90319992

Colour is anthracite as only other options appear to be grey, blue.

Thanks for the tip but when Vaux Green Parts ratted on me last year over a promised refund I resolved never to touch them again. Fraid I'll just have to wait for the man with the 3D printer!
