I have a bonnet in good condition except the lacquer
coat has lifted so needs repainting.
As it's on a car I'd need another one in any condition to
replace it as I can't leave the engine exposed .

I have a spare pre-facelift bonnet here. It's the one that I used to have on my LS:

You can have it for a tenner or an appropriate selection of biscuits will do.

I am quite far away from you though in East Sussex.
