Door pin

Hi my drivers door is a little out of alignment and makes a lot of noise when u go past 60mph , a previous mot says the door pin is loose ? Has anybody done this and give me any pointers?

I am surprised there isn't a how 2 for it.


Simply put...

Open the desired door.
Support the door weight on a padded trolley jack or similar.

Grip the upper shank of the door pin (above the hinge) with grips or pliers under the flared end.

Then knock up on the grips / pliers until the pin comes out.

Fitting is just a matter of tapping the new pin down through the hinge.

Repeat for the other hinge.

Do note that over a 20-odd year life span, the hinge brackets can be bent out of alignment by the weight of the door.
