Door pin
Hi my drivers door is a little out of alignment and makes a lot of noise when u go past 60mph , a previous mot says the door pin is loose ? Has anybody done this and give me any pointers?
Re: Door pin
I am surprised there isn't a how 2 for it.
Simply put...
Open the desired door.
Support the door weight on a padded trolley jack or similar.
Grip the upper shank of the door pin (above the hinge) with grips or pliers under the flared end.
Then knock up on the grips / pliers until the pin comes out.
Fitting is just a matter of tapping the new pin down through the hinge.
Repeat for the other hinge.
Do note that over a 20-odd year life span, the hinge brackets can be bent out of alignment by the weight of the door.
