Offending wiper arm can be moved to any location without any resistance.
Probable cause. Miniature ball and socket pivot on wiper drive linkage has become detached.
Cause: end of life wear or overload caused by attempting to move snow.
Probable solution: fit new wiper linkage sub-assembly. However extremely expensive.
Sneaky fix. It may be possible to stretch a tension spring across the failed linkage to hold the ball and socket together.
Linkage located at extreme rear of bonnet beyond the firewall. Carefully remove flimsy plastic water deflector to gain access. Linkage held to car be 3 screws that engage in anti-vibration mounts. Take photos before you start so as to align parts for self-parking position. Not as simple as it looks. Take extreme care of motor - extremely expensive to replace.
One windscreen wiper arm no longer operates.
