Passenger footwell pocket

Post by th0m45 »

This isn't really a fault as such, more a general question..

The little slot/pocket thing that pops open on the passenger kick panel at the front of the sill.. What is it for? What would have been in it..

I thought that it may have held the service stamp booklet.
But just guessing.
Never truly found a use for it.

Yeah I thought along those lines myself, service book or a manual of some sort. It's just not very big which always threw me lol

When I first bought the car for the missus in 1995, I made up a laminated spec sheet that fitted in the slot.

Full of basic info such as spark plug type, oil grade and other service info.

I still have the laminated card somewhere, but not in the car.

That's a cool idea, having it empty seems quite pointless.
Turns out it is indeed for the service/handbook. Some early 90s cars has them. A friend just informed me lol

It is indeed.
Always nice to learn a new fact.

My service book was always in the owner's manual foulder in the glove box, so really made the plastic pocket thing redundant.

I would be surprised if there are many Cavaliers out there that still have the original books.
I still have all of mine.

Had this on my old cavy mk3 pre-facelift but not the facelift. It did have a little service book in it.

Strange how the facelift one didn't have it.
The one in my car is missing and it's not with all my paperwork unfortunately, need to find one. A blank won't be easy to find though..

Mine is a facelift (1994) car and has the pocket, all the docs and the service book.

Sounds like typical Vauxhall / Opel.
Totally inconsistent with everything they do.

All of my Cavs have the pocket and that covers a good variety of manufacture dates.

My 94 has the pocket as well. I always assumed it was the access port for the central locking and other gubbins. Had a little derp moment when I opened it up and found nothing.

The spec sheet sounds like a good idea, I should make one.
Call them Cavs, but mine's a Veccy. <3
