Cavalier front bumper number

Post by dorsetdave »

I friend of mine has acquired, along with stuff for his cars, a front bumper which looks as if it comes from a Cavalier.

It is brown, with a thin shiny horizontal stripe on it and has the part number GM90 103 04. I had a new brown company Cavalier in 1984 and I'm pretty sure that it had the same colour bumpers. This bumper is not shiny but similar to the one on my current 1986 convertible.

I suppose that it could also fit an Astra so any help regarding it's i.d. would be gratefully received.

He would probably be prepared to sell it as it does not fit anything that he has - if anyone is interested.

Thanks for looking.

I have done a search for this part number..

Ecat24 does not do the Mk2 Cavalier / Ascona-C.

And EPC4 does not recognise that number for any vehicle.

Can you confirm that number is correct and complete.
Usually most GM part numbers are 8 digits.
Yours only has 7.
Don't get me wrong, some early part numbers were 7 digits... but I just cannot find that one.

Hello,

Thanks for your response.

I've had a bit of a clean up around the part number and it may be 90103114. The two last 1s looked as if they were joined at the top and bottom but a good soak with a cleaner has given me this alternative.

Any further help would be gratefully appreciated.

Regards,

Dave

Sorry still no joy...

I tried -
90 103 04,
90 103 114
And
90 108 114,
But none of those numbers are recognised.

Thanks for looking.

I have double, double, checked again and it is certainly 90 103114.

Maybe it is for something else. Perhaps an Astra. I have only had experience of my new 2017 model but seem to recall that back in the 80s the Astra had similar bumpers to the Cavalier.

Again, thanks for your time, much appreciated.

Regards,

Dave

Don't worry it is not uncommon for older part numbers to be lost on the systems or unrecognised.
My Cav mk3 front suspension legs had part numbers that were not recognised.

My only suggestion is - are you likely to take off your own front bumper for refurb or to access the front of the car?
If so, you will have an idea where the part number is and be able to compare them.

Many thanks. The convertible has only done 7,000 miles so I have no plans to remove the bumper. Also my bumper seems to have a built in spoiler, perhaps inspired by the SRI.

If I do manage to identify it I will post the details.

Once again, many thanks for your time and trouble.
