Central locking?

Post by 3cav3 »

I wonder if any one can give me any advise about the central locking on my Ls? Intermittently since i purchased it the o/s rear door doesn't unlock. Slowly it's been getting worse. Sometimes it does unlock though. When it's doesn't the lock pull is very stiff. I can't fathom what might be wrong?

It can be simple things like corroded connector pins in the door loom.
(In the rubber hose between the door and the 'b' post.

The lock linkages can become stiff or sticky due to accumulated muck or atmospheric moisture.
The lock solenoid motors are quite feeble / weak, so it doesn't take much drag to stop them from working properly.

A good clean up of everything and a light lube may solve your issue.
Same with the wiring connector pins.

Thanks, does that involve removing the door card?

Yip that would involve removing door trim.

Very common problem the O/S/R not locking sometimes.

It always locks, just randomly doesn't unlock.
