Parcel shelf support

Post by dorsetdave »

My 94 CD hatch does not have the "cords" that raise the parcel shelf, actually there's two bits of ratty string. Are these cords unique to the mk3 or are the fitted to other Vauxhall models? Anyone know of a supplier? Can't find anything on the net.

Try searching Vauxhall 90269660

There are plenty on Ebay and at genuine part search.

Thanks Robsey. I had a look on line and only found one and that is in Cyprus. The outfit in Melton Mowbray list it but don't have any stock. Can you suggest any other supplier that I could try?

Try giving genuine parts search / autovaux a call.

They list them at just over £7 each.
But they will need to confirm stock levels.

Anyone got a pair of these they want to sell?
Can't seen to find any online now.

The only thing that I can suggest is to make up some cord supports, and where visible, you could possibly sleeve with heat-shrink tubing for that 'rubber' effect.

I know you prefer 'original', but maybe 'looks the part' may be the nearest solution.

Had a peek up my loft there, got spares from that expression I stripped a couple of years ago, it was low miles and had a good parcel shelf complete, and it's got the rubber straps as well. Would need to dig it out get a few pic, but shouldn't be a problem.

Pic here of one of the straps

Another 'hens teeth' part that seems to be exclusive to cavalier/vectra A.

I've got one left that needs to be used now thanks to a garage breaking one

Part nos are;

VX 90269660 as Robsey says.

Opel 2345815

And aftermarket Topran 205805, available at autodoc and other sites.
