Body spares for a Grey Cavalier facelift

Post by Joner1983 »

Hi,

I've got no idea what the panel is called but does anyone have any clues as to where I can find a replacement for the narrow panel that sits between the front bumper and headlights/grill?

Cheers

The official name is -

Front End Panel - Lower.
Part number is - 90307418

Genuine Parts Search show one in stock at £123.30, which is quite steep, but it is a "genuine" part.

Or much cheaper than that, try this from Amazon.

Nice one Robsey, I'll look around for a bit to see if anyone's breaking a grey cav to save me having to paint but failing that I'll give Amazon a go

That panel is bolted to the wings at each end, but the center upper tab is spot welded to the slam panel above & if your car has headlight wash / wipers you'll need one with pre-drilled holes, just for your information if you find a second hand one in a breakers.

My thoughts were about hoping that the donor panel is removed properly with a spot weld removal drill, and not hacked or chiselled off.

As for the headlamp washer holes, it shouldn't be too tricky to measure the original hole locations and transpose these onto the replacement panel.

Cheers both, that's useful to know. Didn't realise it was welded in the middle. Mine doesn't have headlamp washers so no problem there. I've only come across a couple of people breaking grey cavs but their panels seem to be damaged too. Might have to try and beat the dents out of mine....
