Hey everyone, this is my first post (probably of many)
I’ve just bought a 95 mk3 cavalier. I love it anyway but she’s showing her age in and out and I want to revive some bits. The handbrake gaiter is a right mess, has anyone replaced their? If so what one would fit?
Any advice is welcome.
Thanks for reading

Welcome to the forum, Frodz. Any gaiter from any model will fit, they are all the same across the Cavalier range. Hope that helps. There are various methods of replacing the leather fabric unless you can get a complete part with the plastic frame.

Oh sweet, thanks for the reply. Is eBay the place to go for parts then?

You may be able to buy an original gaiter from Genuine Parts Search, but you are talking silly money.. £200+
There are many leather gaiter kits on ebay for a fraction of the price.
But,
Be aware that it will only be the leather part.
You will need to carefully separate the old gaiters from the plastic supports / mountings
They are held on by steel staples that need carefully un-picking.
Then fit the new gaiters and secure with new staples, or needle and sturdy thread.
Make sure the plastic is warm, so that it is easier to work on the gaiters without breaking the plastics.
Cold plastics are very weak and brittle.
Patience is definately a virtue when doing this job.
