Carlton Gsi interior

Post by Joner1983 »

Just a very quick one, does anyone know if Carlton GSi 3000 interior would fit straight into my pre-facelift Cavalier SRi? If not, what modifications would I need?

Good question.
My immediate thought would probably not.

The Carlton is a significantly bigger car than the Cavalier:
186.5 in long by 69.3 in wide compared to the Cavalier's 174.5 in long (saloon) by 67.2 in wide.

Looking around the web I can't find anyone who has done it before. To me that suggests it can't be done.
Or at least not easily.

I'd start off by getting some measurements. Ask how wide they are and compare them to your current seats.
Would be a cool project if they do fit. The Carlton had some truly palatial seats.

Yeah would be great if they fit. The driver's seat in my sri has a big hole in the bolster and I'm struggling to find a replacement but I came across a nice set of Carlton half leathers that I reckon would look decent.

I'll definitely look into this, if it works out it could start a trend :cool

It won't seat runners alone are different and as Jame's mentioned above the Carlton is a much larger vehicle. The rear bench will need cutting down.
Astra MK4 or Vectra B seats would be closer to the right size, though still require a significant amount of work to fit them, and there is the safety factor too.
If you can weld, then I would say give it ago.

Sorry, reading back over the above I feel I maybe a bit dismissive.
Anything can be made to fit, but I don't think it can be done comfortably without resizing the seats, and retrimming the fabric.

For the vectra B or astra G seats, the rails need ground down, and welded to the cavalier runners and bolted in, or a fair amount of careful measuring, and cutting out the mounts on the cav floor, and welding in the mounts from the Astra / Vectra B floor. Doable, very doable infact.

Ah ok, might be a lot of work for what it's worth then. Might be a better idea to try and get my bolster patched up or whole thing retrimmed. Thought I got lucky the other day when I found a guy breaking a 90 SRi but his interior was black and mine is grey :cry
