Factory Production Option Codes - Discussion Thread.

Post by Robsey »

This thread refers to the Post in this link
viewtopic.php?f=70&t=16108

This is where you can discuss the strange factory codes that are mainly listed on the coloured plate rivetted to the slam panel near the bonnet catch.

If you see codes on your plate that are not listed, or would like more info on your particular car...

You can -

1 - Post up the three alpha-numeric codes that you are querying here.

Or

2 - Send your vehicle identification number (VIN) to me via Private Message. (PM).

I recently listed out all 5 of James McGrath's Cavaliers.
Only 3 turned up full listings.
1 gave engine code only
And 1 was not recognised at all.

But fear not - using option 1 will still allow me to obtain the information you require.
Although 700 codes seem to have no description.
I hope that helps

I have found spec lists for some more cars, so the list has now been updated.

Current codes include -
16SV, 20SEH, C18NZ, C20NE, C20XE, C20XEV and C25XE engines
and
Expression, L, LS, GLS, SRI, CD / CDX, Diplomat and GSi 2000 models.

Cannot seem to find anything for 1.4 and 1.8 carb nor 20NE injection engines, nor Envoy and Classic models at present.

So still work in progress.

Confirmed codes for Cavalier/Vectra:
10L, 22L, 24L, 26L etc. = colour codes according to list (List can be done if wanted)
20I = Interior blue
2G4 = All wheel drive
AG4 = FRONT SEAT LH+RH HEIGHT ADJUSTER MANUAL
L73 = C16NZ, E16LZ, E16NZ, X16SZ (you need more codes than this to define the correct engine - mostly the emission codes)
Example: C16NZ is L73 + T5X and X16SZ is L73 + NA5
L74 = C16NZ2
LE4 = 20NE, C20NE (with C20NE the option codes are LE4 + T5X)
LU7 = Engine 17D, 17DR
LU8 = Engine 17DT
LV9 = E18NVR
M23 = Transmission F28
PW8 = WHEEL ROAD ALUMINIUM 6JX15
QB4 = WHEEL ROAD ALUMINIUM 6JX16 (Turbo wheel)
TN6 = Battery 55 Ah
VQ9 = towing hitch, detachable
W6C = Trim cloth (details follow)
W6G = Trim cloth (details follow)
W6J = Trim cloth (details follow)
W6K = Trim vinyl
W6R = Trim leather
W6W = Trim cloth (details follow)
XG3 = for Germany
XL2 = for Switzerland
XQ5 = for the Netherlands

I have finally added Tobias' listings plus a lot more besides.

I have had to split the topic into two posts so far as there are so many codes.
EPC quotes well over 5000 codes for ALL Vauxhall / Opel / GM and Holden models.
I am working through them slowly.

All POC codes starting W updated with all relevant options.

Small mistake
"The Final 4 digit Code on the bottom row refers to fuel computer information."
The code for fuel computer is just 2 or 3 digits. ;)

XQ5 Additional equipment for the Netherlands

W6M for trims up to 1993 is also for authority vehicles. Brown cloth for both codes the difference is the vinyl at backside and lower sides which is grey or anthracite.
W6R with code 631. This is maybe a placeholder. Never saw one of those and there is no hint inside brochures or price lists for leather.

W6R "cloth/leather" for trims from 1993 is an error in EPC and doubled. W6R is just leather with code 634.

Thanks again Tobias.

Following your correction...
I see you speak for Russelheim and Antwerp built Vectra-A.

The "Vectra" VIN and POC plates are formatted differently.

Yes on the Vectra, there is a two or three digit code for the On Board Computer.

On the Cavalier, the last block is a 6 digit alpha-numeric "Sales Order Identification" number.
In my case - my bottom row is -
13L 82I W6E DL8385

Image

The VIN plate on UK built cars do not contain an On Board Computer number coding.

And I notice that a lot more POC codes are listed on the painted factory option plate on UK built cars.

Again, here is mine.
The whole top row is for factory / production use only.
Note the sales order code again in the middle of the top row.

Okay, that is correct. I missed that.

That is also correct. On Antwerp and Rüsselsheim cars there are just a few codes on the plate.
Example from a Rüsselsheim built car with on board computer. ;)

Thanks for posting that.

I had seen images on EPC, but you cannot beat a proper photograph.

Strangely, I have a Russelheim VIN plate on our Vectra-C, but I had never looked at the information on it or the production plate.

Every day is a school day. 8-)

Again -

Added / Updated.

I am sure that there are quite a few codes missed,
It is a bit tricky to work out which of the 5000+ codes are actually relevant for the Vectra-A / Cavalier mk3.
Some are obvious, some are not.

Either way - if anyone has a code on their factory options plate, that is not in the list already,
Just post up any codes, and I will post up any results.
