Cavalier b204, advice needed

Post by fafer88 »

Hi guys,
I inherit an unfinished project of Cav with b204 engine.
I slowly putting everything together but I get to point I need some help.

1) Does anybody has wiring diagram for T5?
2) Where I can get throttle cable, what cable I can use? Vaux cable is to short, can't find saab one.

4) Can anybody identify thos connector? My guess evap valve but not sure? Can I delete evap?
5) Somebody plug PCV, I belive I should swap plug for a small breather filter as previous owner deleted PCV

6) More plugs to identify

Image

7) What plug is missing in that bracket? And what for is that connector on inlet manifold?

Image

8) Another plug. I got temp sensor in radiator hose, do I need to wired it to ecu?

Image

9) Plugs again

Image

10) Plugs in footwell. Also there is a SRS unit in footwel but I don't know where to plug it

Image

That's it for now. Most importatnt is the ecu wiring and throttle cable.

hi mate id suggest getting a haynes manual for a saab where that engine comes from and try to cross reference.
The SAAB unit isnt covered on this forum much.
Usually there is i certain plug for connector and the cables usually fall to the point of the sensor.
Try a v6 throttle cable wich a custom ball on the end

I agree with Troy.
Unfortunately the Vauxhall manuals and wiring diagrams do no cover the Saab range, even though from M reg onwards, GM had bought Saab and made Vectras in Saab bodies.

As for retro-fit info,
I did see quite a bit of info on the Astra mk3 forum.
Including various clutch, gearbox and other mechanical advice.

And electrical waffle from Saabrally.

I think those are plugs from vaux loom, all engine sensor looks connected.

One more issue I found recently, previous owner fitted discs at rear and I don't know what cable would fit. The old one is that Y-type 2 piece and it seems to be to long. I bought one from GSI but I don't have eyelets in chassis and I can't thread it, any ideas?

The GSi has a different suspension set up.
It has independent rear suspension, the same as the calibra and cavalier 4x4.

The standard Cavalier chassis has the "y: connection running across the rear beam (trailing arm).

Maybe the converter did not thread / route the cables correctly.
There are adjustment points on each disc / drum assembly, and at the link bracket.

But then again, did he use Cavalier rear hubs and discs, or Vectra-B / Astra-G hubs and discs?

The fact he is going down the Saab engine route makes me think that he has fitting up-rated non-standard hubs and discs.
And these could be from any GM / Vauxhall / Opel or Saab vehicle.

Hi guys,
Cav b204 is nearly done. Recently I was fighting with wiring. I used diagram from saabrally. I got +12v on pins 1&48 and +12v ignition on pin 60 and I got power supply on injectors and coil pack, but I don’t have signal on coil pack or injectors. Anyone know how to sort it? I wired OBDII thru k-line but I can't connect to ECU. Any ideas?

Are you missing a few earth tags?

If all the feeds are there, then there are a few culprets.

No ignition live to fuel pump relay.
Or
Faulty crankshaft, or camshaft angle / position sensor.

I would expect the engine light to come on if a sensor is down.

On the Cavalier set-up, the engine light stays on anyway, until the engine fires up and runs above a certain rpm.
-------------------

On the OBD connector, do you have -
the ignition on, (ECU needs to be powered up).
12v feed to pin 16 to power the test tool and
ground to pins 4 and 5 - for ground and signal ground.
(Assuming 16 pin eobd connector).
