Gsi exhaust

Post by chrisash86 »

Hi bought a gsi last month and it's great apart from the exhaust is too noisy , the previous owner fitted it and whilst it cost £300 it's just to loud! Can anyone point me in the direction of not such a lary exhaust ??

Companies like LongLife normally ask you what sort of 'note' you're looking for from your new system.

Bear in mind that the XE is pretty raspy anyway
Lexmaul used to make a really good manifold but I'm not really sure what's going on with them any more, I think Dbilas got involved somewhere

I was happy with the piper exhaust I got. Not too loud.

Call me crazy, but if you're after a stock-sounding exhaust, why not seek out an OE/OE-spec exhaust?

As for manifolds, you can get a four branch, but then you're really gonna need a fairly free-flowing exhaust to get the best out of it. You can't win!

Any idea of a decent four branch manifold pal?

Someone fitted ex-BMW acoustic weights to my high efficiency exhaust and these took away the rough stuff but didn't throw the baby out with the bathwater = the best of both worlds. Not expensive either :)

Is this the same exhaust system that you're discussing in the 'Exhaust blowing' thread?

Dude, I've got to be honest with you, £300 is not alot of money for a stainless system, even just cat-back.
Is this outfit a branch of a recognised franchise or just a bunch of local lads trying their hand at knocking out systems?

I don't know if the warranty transfers with ownership (you mentioned that the previous owner had the work done) but I'd explore that, take it in and tell them the problems you're having with it.

I have a Scorpion system that I'll be selling shortly. It has had very little use and will fit your GSi no bother at all.

Are Scorpion still supporting the GSi and Turbo models?
They bailed out with the SRi about ten years ago.
