Fuel Lines
Fuel Lines
While the car was in the air having the new Brake hoses fitted i noticed that the fuel pipes underneath are quite heavily corroded. How thick are the pipes is it worth rubbing them down and repainting them or can you buy replacement lines from Vauxhall made to measure. The rest of the car underneath seems pretty solid cant work out why the lines are so bad.

Re: Fuel Lines
i think you can rub them down with emery cloth and then just put grease on them. this will remove and prevent any further corrosion.
Re: Fuel Lines
Think thats what i will do in the short term and see how that goes. Thanks

Re: Fuel Lines
i usually use a wire brush on them and then mix some engine oil and grease together and then brush it on.
Re: Fuel Lines
I think in the short term at least it will be a clean up and treat. I like the idea of copper pipe though no corrosion worries there.
Re: Fuel Lines
I have spent today rubbing down the fuel lines with emery cloth then i painted the underside of the car in underseal. That should do it lol.

Re: Fuel Lines
It's an easy job once your in the rhythm of it, i just don't enjoy spilling petrol over me.
Re: Fuel Lines
Looking at them underneath it doesnt seem to bad a job just a few bends to do. I like the idea of replacing them with something that wont rust.

Get some 8mm copper pipe and a bending spring to get neat bends. Only a few quid for the springhttp://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Faithfull-8mm-Pip ... dZViewItem

Re: Fuel Lines
I think I used about 5 or 6 meters. The smallest coil it comes in is a 10 meter roll. I could have given you the pipe but not like you just stay round the corner. Do you know any plumbers/ gas fitters to blag some from?
