Re: Cavalier V6 Jenvey Throttle Bodies
would need to modify the bonnet on the cavalier / calibra as there is nowhere near the same amount of headroom as in the omega/vectra. either that or dry sump it and drop the lump in the bay. cold air is also a concern as the v6 obviously prefers to run with a large dose of cool air being sucked in, hence the scoop often found elsewhere. under bonnet temperatures can be quite high, especially rear bank against the bulkhead, so some investigation required there.
Re: Cavalier V6 Jenvey Throttle Bodies
will do some more research into this, I can imagine a throttle bodies V6 would sound fantastic, however if its not practical I may well take the supercharged route.
If in Doubt.......Flat out!

Re: Cavalier V6 Jenvey Throttle Bodies
or as in saab x30xe turbo hybrid? it's a small turbo but it's still a v6 turbo without having to go down the forged internals route and should drop right in.
Re: Cavalier V6 Jenvey Throttle Bodies
its very low boost though and the gains will be minimal really.

Re: Cavalier V6 Jenvey Throttle Bodies
I'd like a Vectra VXR engine in mine!
As for throttle bodies. A TV mag had the guys that race the old Vectra challange touring cars. (2.5 v6's, not the BTCC ones)
Some of them had fitted omega 3litre engines and ran throttle bodies. But had to rebuilt the engines all the time. But then they were using them on the track.
a VXR lump would be cool. Good knows how you'd wire one in tho. Or how much it would cost to get one. Not your everyday engine. Lots of ex police cars popping up tho.

You wouldn't, too much effort just do it on mappable management, if you had tech2 and a whole car you may manage to get it running but right now without knowing enough about the canbus wiring its just not that simpleHAIRIBO wrote:

Re: Cavalier V6 Jenvey Throttle Bodies
I know of an Omega with a Z20LEH in it and the fella said the wiring was a massive ballache. He got there in the end, but it took a long time to sort. Not sure what management he was using.
Re: Cavalier V6 Jenvey Throttle Bodies
z20let is easy enough its just the vxr lumps with the canbus and linked into the radio and all that, that i dont know how to do

Re: Cavalier V6 Jenvey Throttle Bodies
yeah we've been watching that, the camouflage painted one? carlton is (apparently) a lot easier to fit as there is more room to play with (less toys) whereas with the omega you need to cut away a bit of the bulkhead to accomodate the turbo. i think the same is said of c20let's when they're dumped into mantas. fortunately the poverty spec omegas came fitted with the x20xev so it's not a million miles way from a LET install if you don't start with a v6 equipped motor.
Re: Cavalier V6 Jenvey Throttle Bodies
I ment the vectra vxr lump. 2.8v6 Turbo.
Not the astra/zafira ones.
