Emission woes

Post by dave's.veccy »

I had an emission test carried out today as i dont trust the car atm and mot is due 17 July. Im glad i did because it would fail its emissions AGAIN! GRRRR, what is it with emissions, every car ive owned fails on this :(

when on idle the CO was around 0.4 to 0.5 although briefly it would dip into 0.3

when on fast idle or whatever its called (2500 rpm approx) the CO was measured at between 1.1 and 2.0 but the lambda reading which ive forgotten was well within the boundrys and was green so at least something is a pass

matey told me its possibly the catalytic converter (i hate the word possibly :| ) that is causing the woes. I quite agree with the lambda reading as it uses sod all fuel, its more economical than the previous 2 other Cavaliers ive owned but im really unsure (even though i am a qualified mechanic  )

does this sound like the Catalytic converter knackerd??

anyone know where i can get a genuine catalyst very cheap??

I know for a fact the one on it isnt a genuine one
