Cav 2.0 CDX - Fuel Injection Relay

Post by M234OWP »

Is there someone out there who could tell me where this little bugger resides? I'm getting a fault code 29, which relates to the relay, but having checked the three places I was told to look in (engine bay fusebox, fusebox under dash, relay bank under dash) it is nowhere to be seen! It's driving me absolutely flippin mental!!

Please point me in the right direction before my brain explodes!!

Now this is a real pain in the butt! I replaced the relay but still am getting the same fault displayed. Do I need to somehow reset the eml to clear the fault?

can I ask you what's wrong with your car?

checking the code you say you have 29 . This only shows on a GM mulitec ecu but i am sure the xev engine has a simtec 56.0 56.1 ecu and according to www.topbuzz.co.uk there is NO fault code 29

Try flashing the code again you may have it wrong

one ..one two = 12 initializing code
one.. one two = 12 initializing code
one.. one two = 12 initializing code

then the fault code(s)

and back to

one ..one two = 12 initializing code
one.. one two = 12 initializing code
one.. one two = 12 initializing code

Deffo fault code 29. EML blinks 12 three times, then 19 then 29 three times then 12 three times. Actually the fuel relay did look a bit suspect, the case had been split. However, have tried two known good relays and neither has worked and I'm unable to clear the code.

According to my book, on US V6 cars, code 29 is a fault on injector 5, non US cars it is the fuel inj relay that's at fault. Anyway, now I'm at a loss as to which way to go with it. :(

Right this just gets weirder! I have rechecked the eml light codes again and I now get the following codes, 12 - 1 - 92 - 12. I'm now assuming that the fault (92) lies with the cam sensor, no idea at all what the lone 1 blink is all about. :?

this is where ecotecs get the bad reputation , for having too many sensors and hardly a week goes by before the eml light start moaning somethings wrong

1. does the car run ?
2. if it does is the light on when you drive it ?
3 .never heard of code 1?
4 .92 yes . try cleaning the connections on the plug check the wire for damage (the one that's clipped along the edge of the cam cover next to the pulleys. the camshaft one sits between the 2 front sprockets

Its a long shot but so far you seem to have had a cam and crank sensor code . I would start by either substituting a known good one or try a replacement from a local motor factors

let me know how you get on

Success!!

Replaced the cam sensor on the Cav with the one off my Pineapple Sport and she started up much cleaner, no eml and a nice even tickover. Now I've just got to get another sensor to put back in my Astra!

Cheers for all the advice, it's been much appreciated! :)
