Emission Results

Post by Mk3alan »

Just got a years MOT! (like waiting outside a maternity ward - but worse!)
Tester said how low the emissions were, looking at previous lots it seems consistent.

The CO was .224 , 3.500 allowed
The HC was 34 , 1200 allowed

Is this typical for a 2litre 8 valver?

Yep, sounds like the motor is in good health. My 8 valver puts out very similar figures usually.

Am I a light sleeper or a heavy sleeper? Well that depends on how much I've had to drink...

Are you absolutely sure you don't have a catalytic converter on yours?

Not true.
My XE decatted could beat those readings.
A lot of other NE's and XE also have.

Just proves it's running real nice. Good stuff.

These are the readings from my CD auto last year:

CO - 0.81%

HC - 91ppm

It had only done 37,000 miles at that point, it's on 40.500 now and it's MOT is due so I'll see what it gets next week.

It hasn't been tuned or upgraded at all has it because you seem to be getting extraordinary figures for fuel economy and now emissions.

No, totally standard other than a 4 branch exhaust manifold which was recently fitted but previous mots show similar results with the original cast iron manifold.

wish my c20ne was like that it has always struggled to get through the emissions and used to have a new cat each year but I have made a type approved one fit so it will have that on it for the next mot :D that should sort her out
