ECU re mapped
Has anyone had their ECU re mapped ? How much was it? Also what were the gains like ? My cav is a 2.0lt 16v ecotech
Re: ECU re mapped
Is it not something like 10bhp on a normally aspirated car. Usually costs near £300. Not really worth it
Re: ECU re mapped
Probably get more gains from a free flowing air filter, de-cat exhaust and a damned good service.
There is also porting, high lift cams and so on,
But then I am a Sunday driver - so probably no idea what I am on about - ha ha.
Troy or TurboDan are probably the best to answer that as they have both done a bit of remapping in the past.

Re: ECU re mapped
There is no point in having the ecu remapped if there are no modifications to the air intake and exhaust flow. For the ecu to give best possible settings would be to fill with vpower and service the car disconnect the battery before hand. Reconnect the battery and thrash it on a nice cool morning. The ecu has a learning function that tweaks the timing. Advancing the timing really is the only way to get a few extra horses and better economy. Turbos are easily remapped as boost, fuel and timing can be altered for more power
Other than that fit a redtop or convert the ecotec to redtop

Re: ECU re mapped
Go on to eBay and buy a decat pipe and cat back system. Less than £400. Should make a difference. If your rich buy a lexmaul exhaust manifold to at £400!

Re: ECU re mapped
Greater gains to be had from clearing the crap out of the boot and ejection of passengers.
"No the temperature gauge doesn't work........
we've driven 150 miles today........
the heater went cold last Thursday........
they check the level when it's serviced don't they?"

Bit of a grey area.
It won't pass an MOT with one, but as long as you tell your insurers it's not illegal as such.
