It should be fine as long as it still meets the pre-existing smoke limits.

The new MOT is aimed at vehicles with diesel particulate filters from approx 2006 onward.
1 - to ensure that they have not been tampered with.
2 - to ensure that the vehicle meets the emissions and smoke requirements.

So for you - the only change is with regard to leakages of harmful fluids.
Oil, fuel, brake fluid etc; that could be harmful to the environment or wildlife.

My old workhorse is on the road for another year, passed its MOT with a clean bill of health and good emissions. The examiner did show me a patch underneath at the rear which is rusting. Says if I clean paint and underseal he would be happy with it next year. To Robsey you were correct about the new emissions rules, do not apply to older cars.

Excellent news Bob,

Always nice to hear that yet another of Vauxhall's finest gets to pound the roads for another year.

Thanks for letting me know that my info was okay. Always happy to help.

As for the corrosion - yes get in there early, although I would recommend -
1 - clean the area of concern.
2 - treat with a rust converter - I use Vacatan.
3 - use a good high zinc priimer
4 - paint over the primer, although if you are under-sealing, colour will not matter.
5 - under-seal. I used a truck bed liner paint, whilst others use Shultz or Waxoyl.

Sounds a bit over the top, but it is the underside that is the corrosion weak spot on most cars.
