C20NE fuel pump

Post by Skara »

Not long ago I bought a cavalier (C20NE) for spares because I'm planning to put the engine in the other one (C16NZ), the question I wanted to ask some of you that drive the car with C20NE in it, is fuel pump priming when you turn the ignition on ? In my C16NZ I can hear it loud and clear priming every time I turn the ignition on but on the C20NE there is nothing, the pump can't be heard priming nor the relay can be heard and the car starts fine.

The pump and relay only fire up when the engine revs reach a high enough speed during cranking.

So the noise is probably drowned by the noise of the engine and starter during cranking.

Oh is that so, so what you are telling me is that on 1.6 the pump is priming on the ignition and on 2.0 the pump is priming on cranking ?

I am not sure about the multec equipped cars.
It is a long time since I ran a C18NZ, which is more like the C16NZ2.

But the C20NE is on cranking at a quick enough rpm.
