GM fuel hose codes

Post by jgwilliamson »

Hi,
I'm re-fitting the tank and fuel hoses on my 1993 1.8i LS and I'd like to replace the old rubber hoses with new E10 resistant ones (as far as possible).
The old hoses have codes like GM 16/3 VE and GM 18/3 VE .
Does anyone know if there is a conversion chart which describes these codes in the "modern" format i.e. SAE J30 R9 ID 7.3mm ?

Many thanks,

John

This is the only fuel hose that I know is rated at upto 100% ethanol.

https://brickwerks.co.uk/product/fuel-h ... afe-7-3mm/

Not the cheapest, but the only stuff that I have confidence in.

-------------

Many Ebay sellers quote the R9 stuff, but it is only "upto 10% ethanol"

My pleasure

As I have a VW van, I buy from Brickwerks regularly.
They have a huge reputation in the VW community, and will always try to sell good quality equipment, no tat.

They do mail order, which is usually very fast.
I normally receive parcels within two working days.

Sadly, I do not get commission for my recommendations.

For those with Pierburg Carbs, you can get parts from here too.
Just like the Cavalier 1.8 carb models, the VW camper with the 1.9 DG .waterboxer also uses the Pierburb 2e3 carb unit.
