C18NZ - Throttle body fuel hoses

Post by jgwilliamson »

Hi everybody,

I was trying to fit my new 7.3 ID ethanol friendly fuel hoses to the throttle body of my C18NZ today and I had a problem getting the old protective sleeves that fitted over the old hoses, where they passed behind the steering rack. The new hoses fit the old pipes great, but they seem a wee bit bigger than GM's on the OD.
Two questions:
1. Are these sleeves really necessary?
2. And if they are, has anyone a handy "trick" for getting the old sleeves on the new hoses? (I've tried silicone grease, soapy water but to no avail)

Your help and suggestions are, as always, greatly appreciated.

Cheers

John

I don't recall sleeves on mine,

but if you are worried about chafing, you could get some heat shrink tubing to protect the fuel hose.

Thanks Robsey,

I never thought about using heat shrink.

Just in case anybody else needs to do this, I eventually got this PVC sheathing off of Amazon:

Slight wider than the originals but does the job! :)

I can't believe that I didn't think earlier.

Just like the ethanol safe fuel hose, Brickwerks also do plastic sleeving for the fuel injected engines.

D'oh!!! I am a senile old git sometimes. :wall

Good to hear that you are sorted now though. :thumb
