C18NZ - Help on ID of grommet/plug

Post by jgwilliamson »

Evening all,
I've been re-assembing the air cleaner bits that sit over the C18NZ throttle body and I have a "spare part" from my bag of bits that I packed away quite a while ago. I can't for the life of me remember what it is or where it goes.

The parts diagram here: https://opel.7zap.com/en/car/j89/g/0/98-1/ doesn't show any such part. (see photo links):

The rubber is quite soft and the neck of the plug has 4 grooves. Can anyone identify the part and where it goes?

Many thanks

John

I had a right good look at the complete fuel and exhaust system for the C18NZ.
153 pages on EPC.

I could only find this...
Item 25 on the Multec Throttle body.

https://opel.7zap.com/en/car/j89/g/0/56-1/

I dont recall ever seeing one, despite completely stripping my throttle body many years ago.

Part number 90 194 032

It is also used as a vacuum bore cap on the 20NE throttle valve body. (But not C20NE and in some territories)

Hi Rob,

That looks to be the part, and in spite of spending the best part of this morning peering into the engine bay I'm still none the wiser where it's supposed to go.
When I dismantled the air cleaner etc (more than 10 years ago) I obviously took this off from some part of the throttle body/throttle valve assembly but goodness knows where from.
Many thanks for your help again Rob, and when I find out where it goes I'll be sure to post it here.
Cheer,
John

A thought in my head is...
If the car runs fine, and it gets through the MOT emissions fine, then I would not worry about it.

Just put it somewhere safe - but not 'Robsey safe' because you will never find it again - ha ha.

 Tell me about it, I put the front bumper bolts in a "safe" place last week and I spent 2 hours yesterday trying to find them!! :?
