ECU Reading?

Ive got a problem with my engine managment light coming on :(! Ive been led to beleev it cud be the cam sensor? The light comes on and the rev counter goes crazy nd eventually the car konks, sometimes its ok 4 days tho :roll: ! Ive heard of some way of reading the ecu?, anyone shed some light on this? 95" 2.0 Sri Ecotec! Thanx

find the plug on the top right of the engine bay (as you look at the engine) behind the strut, you will find it plugged into a plastic holder

Then follow this guide.

If it is the cam sensor you might want to ensure you buy a quality part (ideally a genuine Siemens) as I've just changed mine twice because first time I bought a cheap after-market part off ebay and it cured nothing, but in gettting and fitting a siemens all is well again. I found a £20 Siemens sensor at vaux-world website (about half the usual price).
