after selling my beloved cav over 12 months ago i thought that would be the last i saw of it but our lee was browsing astra mk2 and came across my cav !!!! WHAT A WASTE
*****WARNING THE FOLLOWING IMAGES MAY BE UPSETTING****
IT NOW SPENDS ITS LIFE BLASTING UP YOUR RACEWAY ah well one mans meat is another mans poison its his car now
looked alright till i saw how he covered the fuel filler cap and if the sunroofs the same then i bet that looks a mess too.
2006 Flame Red Astra VXR 19's, AFL, Headlamp Washers, Cruise Control, CD70+ AUX In, CID, Bluetooth, Sight & Light, Powerfold Mirrors, DDS/TPMS, Park Pilot, Check Control, Speed Locking - All Retrofitted by me
Is this the one Buffkane bought to run at the strip? Red cav to the right of the first picture looks like his old one.
"No the temperature gauge doesn't work........
we've driven 150 miles today........
the heater went cold last Thursday........
they check the level when it's serviced don't they?"
Yes this is my car, a lot of works gone into it,
when I first got it the engine was chocked up with the wrong exhaust,
the engine was poorly fitted, 3 engine mounting bolts missing,
with several others bolts loose including gearbox to engine bolts loose.
only 1 bolt holding the starter motor in place.
Badly lined up gear selector.
Clutch was almost gone, thrust bearing had eaten though the fingers.
a stupid switch fitted to turn the fuel pump on and off with about 20 foot of extra wiring.
6 inch whole behind the pedals in the bulk head. rather large whole behind the bumper passenger side.
led lights wired into the front door handles, (which earthed out on the door some where, Had a mini smoke fest because of that)
Fuel tank was rotten on the top side, badly fitted fuel lines. sprung 2 leaks with in 2 weeks of each other.
that covers most of the work I sorted on the car within the first 2 months of owning it, How it passed its MOT with the engine held in like that ill never know.
and if I had not of got it, with the above list alone that car would not of made it any were near it next mot. to be honest the clutch would have failed within weeks if I had not taken the box off to check the whining noise.
Then discover the amount of loose bolts extra.
So maybe it is upsetting but its still on the road getting used to go cruising with my mates and drag stripped and the odd day round a track.
And also its Not a waste, im currently doing a Full Top to Bottom restoration on a 1987 astra Belmont. The cav has been could say a Guinea pig, for some learning curves for me personally when stripping out and working on cars ect. This was not mindless destroying,
This cav won the oct round at yorkraceway for class C. 3 weeks ago got 8th of 28, with the broken selector mount.
One more I personally didn't buy it from you I bought it from the chav that bought it off you around 2 or 3 weeks after h got it from you, so he would more thn likely killed it by now. was anound oct/nov 2011 when I got it.
Well to be honest at least it's still running and hasn't been stripped and turned into a banger. That's one positive way of looking at it. Never been a fan of matt paint but if it's out there making a name for itself, then that's fair enough I think.

Am I a light sleeper or a heavy sleeper? Well that depends on how much I've had to drink...
Glad your getting some fun out of it, not what I expected to see happen to it which came as a shock nice to hear you getting some results at the track ...any vids of your win?
I really like it. Looks so cool and has the image of a track car with the riveted fuel filler and sun roof.
Some people say the same about my cav with cutting the wheel well out and fitting side exit exhaust, but I dont give a shit about people's thoughts and comments.
At the end of the day we all like different things, I appreciate the work you have put into it to make it your own.
Id certainly own it

I'd go along with that.

Thanks for the appreciation guys. Spent a lot of time and effort on that car. Like chopping down the wireing loom removing excess weight heater system gone abs gone sunroof gone fuel tank n cap gone no rear door guts no power steering. And loads more done. The paint job was properly done on the outside only cost 170 quid its a goodjob not perfect though lol
its always handy having a paint sprayer guy that works 50metres just round the corner from me, I preped most of the car, sanding down and removing the few needed parts.
car had 5 coats of 2pac matt black. he said was fairly runny hence the extra coats, took it in on the Thursday, sprayed ont Friday, left for the weekend in his spot got it back Monday. Fast turn around.
what worked with a slight twist, with the car being dark smoke grey, didn't need to use primer as it was a fairly good base to start with, now it don't look matt black it full sun light, its more of a really dark matt grey with the base of th original colour, but I was not fussed. as it looks frisking good when clean lol.
had to get some car shampoo with no polish or wax. 20 mins to wash it leave to dry done. fairly effortless to clean to be honist lol.
