Re: Saab 93 Turbo
Saab 900 1994 - 1998
Saab 9-3 1998 - 2000 all b204's red coilpack
Saab 9-3 2000 - 2002 b205's black coilpack
Saab lingo,
Lpt b204 - 154 (1998 - 2000)
Lpt b205 - 150
Fpt - 185 (1994 - 2002)
Hot - 210 ( unsure on year but rare)
Wouldnt worry too much about which one as tbey are so easy to map.
All 3 models based on cavalier so have same axle and hubs. Not independant rears, but a solid axle.
B205's fit but wiring is harder and they arent forged internals. Just as easy to tune and sometimes get better numbers than the b204's as they are lighter/better flowing internals.
Stick to the 204's if i were you! (Red coilpack)
Much much cheaper.

Re: Saab 93 Turbo
Just ma grandad has one and said I could buy it, so red or black its mine ...just bit of info is better.
1..So the engine , ecu, loom all swao straight over?
Or does the ecu need unlocking?
2..And the front struts with calipers ect and rear exles with bigs calipers ect all swap straight over?
Just like to be clear before it begins lol

Hubs and brakes yes
Loom will need alot of work to make it work if its a 205
Ecu will need unlocking

Re: Saab 93 Turbo
Not sure on axle but the hubs unbolt and bolt on to your axle. Think the axles are slightly different. Rear hubs definatly swap over though.
Ecu will be immobolised either way
205 and 204 will bolt in but looms are in need of alot of work. The 204 you can buy the loom adaptor from nige p.

What exactly needs modifiying on the loom so I can be away and hopefully have no stoppages along the way?
+ adapter
+ ecu unlock

Re: Saab 93 Turbo
Not quite true; the black direct injection cartridge is also present on the 2.3-litre B235R which is 250+bhp as standard without any fettling (found on 95 HOT Aero models etc) and overboost increases the power by 20% (which would be circa 300bhp). Clarkson said this made the Saab 95 HOT Aero "faster in the mid range than a Porsche 911 Turbo". You'd need to ask a few more questions to ascertain whether it would mate to a Vauxhall box as easily as the B204, but I think I remember someone saying the Getrag F40 6-speed from a Vec C will couple up to it.Chip Pan Dan wrote:they do fit, but there not as powerful

Re: Saab 93 Turbo
They are practically the same blocks in all 4 engines 204/234/205/235
Just different auxilaries. All bolt up to gm gboxs.
The only dow side to the 2x5 engines is they can only take 450nm of torque which is pretty much stage 3 (270hp) but everything internally is lightened and the heads are ported better, thus the name ecopower.
