The Colorado Story
The Colorado Story
The Colorado was registered in August 1993 and was then traded in in 1998. The next owner was the workshop foreman of the Vauxhall Dealership my wife then worked for. He then gave it a good overhaul even going as far as taking the Head off and putting on a new head gasket. He then got bored of it in 2000 and was eyeing my wifes L reg CD Astra. A swap was done and we took on the Cavalier. It had been 4 years since i had driven a Cavalier and i really enjoyed getting back in the driving seat of one. Disaster struck in December 2000 when in snowy conditions the engine mount snapped and sent it spinning off the road causing damage to both front wings bumper. And scratches all down the drivers side. Touch and go it was authorised for repair. It was then the main car. We kept the servicing up and i kept it polished! i took it over in 2002 As things have worn out i have replaced them with better quality items so it now has a Janspeed backbox lower springs and bilstein shocks. In 2007 i came scross some Sri sideskirts and i had the fitted to the car and sprayed by my local bodyshop who also repainted the bonnet in 2008 as well as my Turbo. Here are a couple of pictures,

Re: The Colorado Story
Those are the wheels i do want for it. I have been spending so much time and money doing the Turbo the Colorado has had to take a bit of a back seat.

Re: The Colorado Story
It was in the snow and my wife was driving to work and all of a sudden it lurched round to the right due to the weight of the engine swinging in one direction. It left the road went into the hedge hit it. which sent it spinning round and facing in to the road facing the oncoming traffic with the engine hanging down on one side. Due to this it was recovered very quickly. The snow obviously speeded thingsup. I do have a picture of it in the ditch which if i can find i will scan and post.

Re: The Colorado Story
Oh right. sounds bad then didnt think the engine tilting over would have done that. Well hey at least its sorted now
I know, snow is a bastard to drive in. As fun and exciting, its also stupidly dangerous and too many other road users arent too bothered about driving carefully

Re: The Colorado Story
Thing is with snow any violent movement can end up nasty. Where we used to live they didnt bother gritting that road so it was white and icy that morning.
Re: The Colorado Story
